Obituary of Theodore J. Wetzel

Theodore Joseph Wetzel Sr., 79, of Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 2, 2024. He was born on August 18, 1944, in Bronx, New York. Ted, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was known for his thoughtfulness, kindness, generosity, and love for all.

 

Ted proudly served in the Marine Corp. and later pursued a career as a tradesman, owning his own business, Ted's Traveling Tools. He also dedicated his time teaching in Delaware Valley High School Vocational Tech and until his last day worked tirelessly at the Pocono Environmental Education Center.

 

A man of many talents, Ted enjoyed tinkering in his garage, decorating his home especially during Christmas with his notorious light display, and collecting DVDs. He was a dedicated member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish along with holding seat as President and board member of the Pocono Water Forest signing the articles of incorporation as one of the first families to call PMWF home.

 

Ted is survived by his wife of 60 years, Grace Wetzel, his children Rene Falkenburg and her husband Eric, Theodore Wetzel Jr and his wife Cheryl, Marc Wetzel and his partner Robyn, Amanda Falkenburg and her partner Ian, Matthew Falkenburg, John Fodi, Michael Fodi and his partner Seva, Christopher Fodi and his partner Kelsey, Joseph Wetzel, and Violet Wetzel. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Parker, Raelyn, Kenadee, Jace, Kyra Gladkowski, Emma, and Vada Fodi, as well as his sisters Louise Burkart and Audrey Maslawaz.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Amelia (Wisen) and Harry Wetzel Sr. and his siblings Elizabeth Riordon, Helen Wetzel, Florence Wiechmann, Harry Wetzel Jr, and Hank Wetzel.

 

A service will be held at St. Vincent de Paul's Parish on Saturday, March 9th, at 10:00 am, Burial will be than held at Delaware Township Cemetery in Dingmans Ferry, PA on Sunday, August 18th, 2024, followed by a celebration of life at the Pocono Environmental Education Center.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Pocono Environmental Education Center or St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
